چکیده

A comparison of the nucleotide sequence of Drosophila U6 RNA with that of rat (6) reveals a homology of 90.7%. Of the 10 differences, 4 represent sugar and base modifications (positions 64, 69, 71, 73) while 6 are nucleotide replacements (positions 4, 6,18,65,86,102). Multiple alignements show that the nucleotide sequences of broad bean (7) and Physarum polycephalum U6 snRNA (8) have much weaker homologies than those described above. Interestingly, in domains where the U6 sequences show poor homology, the secondary structures seem to be highly conserved. Detailed computer studies are available from the authors or from Ch. Nager, Bio-Informatics, Friedrich Miescher Institut, 4002 Basel, Switzerland.

A phylogenetic study of Drosophila splicing assembly chaperone RNP-4F associated U4-/U6-snRNA secondary structure

The rnp-4f gene in Drosophila melanogaster encodes nuclear protein RNP-4F. This encoded protein is represented by homologs in other eukaryotic species, where it has been shown to function as an intron splicing assembly factor. Here, RNP-4F is believed to initially bind to a recognition sequence on U6-snRNA, serving as a chaperone to facilitate its association with U4-snRNA by intermolecular hyd...

Aconitase and Developmental EndPointsasEarly IndicatorsofCellularToxicity Induced by Xenobiotics in Drosophila Melanogaster

Background: In this study, the toxicity of the different xenobiotics was tested on the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster model system.  Methods: Fly larvae were raised on food supplemented with xenobioticsat different concentrations (sodium nitroprusside (0.1-1.5 mM), S-nitrosoglutathione (0.5-4 mM), and potassium ferrocyanide (1 mM)). Emergence of flies, food intake by larvae, and pupation h...

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)

Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...

Structure, organization, and transcription of Drosophila U6 small nuclear RNA genes.

U6 RNA is an abundant, capped small nuclear RNA (snRNA) associated with hnRNP particles (Reddy, R., and Busch, H. (1983) Prog. Nucleic Acid Res. Mol. Biol. 30, 127-162). Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles containing U4 and U6 RNAs are required components for splicing of pre-mRNAs (Berget and Robberson, 1986; Black and Steitz, 1986). In this study the Drosophila U6 RNA genes have been iso...
